12 Recipes

It’s the time of the year when I’m tempted to turn off electronics, disregard the newspaper and hide under a rock. Why you ask? Retrospectives. Countdowns of the past. Lists and lists and lists.

I mean, I love lists (organization junkie) but the look backs are always excessive. So this weekend, I’m looking forward. Here are twelve recipes I’m looking forward to making in 2012.

New Year, New Closet

I think every girl dreams of having that perfect closet. A closet where you walk in and your clothes are beautifully organized by color, type, and season.

If I had a spare bedroom, I would consider turning it into a closet/gym. That probably sounds weird. For my last day off yesterday, I decided to spend the morning fixing my closet. Yes, I enjoy organization as a hobby. My closet was a disaster. I forgot to take a before picture so please refer to this lifelike artistic recreation.

It was a mess. Odds and ends I couldn’t find places for were shoved into wire baskets. The wire baskets of crap eliminated most of the hanging space which in turn wrinkled and sent my clothes into the black hole a.k.a. right side of my closet.

Thankfully, Home Depot pulled through with closet kits and storage boxes. I focused on using my closet for clothes, shoes, and bags only. Art supplies, books, decorations, and DVDs were sorted into boxes and placed either under my bed or up above my closet. Roughly four hours later, I was left with my dream (for the amount of space I have) closet.

Perfectly sorted by jackets, longer tops, dresses, long dresses, pants, skirts, and shorter tops. Did I mention I installed five shoe racks?

A nicely organized closet makes getting dressed much easier! I also have room for more clothing…

The Osbourne Family “Spectacle of Dancing Lights”

I just returned from two fun filled days in Disney World. I’ve seen the Osbourne lights every year since 1995. They’re truly a sight to behold. The display was acquired by Disney after the Osbourne family was faced with lawsuits by their neighbors. It’s only grown from there.

The lights now dance to music. Fake snow falls from the roof tops.

I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

Cute Aprons

A nice surprise I got for Christmas was a brand new apron. Aprons are a necessity for a clumsy spiller like myself.

It’s vintage Paris newspapers. And as you know, I love Paris.

Here are a few options I found to keep you cute and clean in the kitchen.

Anthropologie | Cooking Complexities Apron

Mod Cloth | Haute Hibiscus Apron

Anthropologie | Fluttered Chambray Apron

Williams Sonoma | Adult Veggie Icon Apron

Happy cooking!

Ham & Swiss Quiche

It’s a family tradition to purchase a Honey Baked Ham for Christmas. We then manage to eat variations of ham recipes for the next week. One of my favorites is the Christmas morning quiche. It’s easy to make, albeit a long bake. However the creamy, rich slices are well worth the wait. This makes a great entree if you’re entertaining.

How to: Christmas Lights Manicure

When I saw this nail art idea on The Beauty Department I knew I had to attempt it, for one reason alone. Great nails would distract others from noticing how many cookies I’m eating. Instead of focusing on my plate, they would look at my nails.

* Multiple cookies were eaten in the photographing of nails

It really wasn’t that hard– but once again requires a patience I have a difficult time exhibiting. Only my left hand is decorated. Sorry, could not bring myself to do both.
