I moved into my new apartment on Friday then ditched unpacking to reunite with college friends in Philadelphia.
My room is bare bones at the moment but I’m looking forward to making it a home! Getting the West Elm bed frame and headboard was super fun! My delivery window of 3-6pm turned into a 10:30pm delivery with phone call holds from hell.
Hopefully the rest of this process runs more smoothly. Doubtful.
This past week I finally found an apartment and joined a gym. Come June, I’ll hopefully be able to resume trying new recipes and training for the Philadelphia Marathon.
At work, I helped with the launch party for the NY Magazine Design Hunting issue.
Can’t wait for the long weekend already!
On the whole, I love living in New York City. I can’t get enough of the speed, the people, the food, and the scenery. Here are a couple of snippets I’ve discovered so far…
1. It’s easy to eat like you’re on vacation. I’ve been trekking all over Manhattan this past week and listing the sweets I’ve eaten (La Maison du Chocolat truffles, gelato in Nolita, tiramisu from Agata & Valentina, Emack and Bolio’s Grasshopper Pie Froyo, Abraco Olive Oil Cake, Shack Shake concrete…) is getting quite lengthy. I’m walking it off, right? That’s the vacation mentality…
2. Obviously, it’s an expensive city, BUT manicures are only $9. It’s amazing. (Try Essie Spaghetti Strap!)
3. So far my running preference is Central Park >; Hudson River path >; East River path. However the discrepancy of preference between Hudson & East is much larger than the former two.
4. Craigslist is horrible. Finding somewhere to live is torture. I feel like I could write a book of short stories from my four viewings alone.
Well, I’m off to try out a yoga class! Here’s hoping this week brings stability.
Good morning, New York! Yesterday, I boarded my one-way flight armed with two (very heavy) suitcases. A wonderful friend offered her apartment as refuge while I search for my own place. Moving is obviously a taxing undertaking but I’ve been so fortunate to have the support of my friends and family.
Onto the next chapter…!

I’m off for a run followed by some beach relaxation. If you see me on Monday, I’ll be the tan New Yorker
Step Four of Moving to NYC: Enjoy your favorite things but never label them “the last”.
Sorry I’ve been M.I.A. lately! I’ve been mulling large scale life decisions.
Such as moving to New York.
Step one: Resign from current job. Check!
