I finally made it to Whole Foods so I could stock up on fruits, vegetables, and protein options to halt my sugar binge. After a dinner of Momofoku Milk Bar cookies, I needed to get back on track.

All the experts say breakfast is the most important meal of the day but unfortunately I happen to value sleep. I started making smoothies in the morning which are quick to make and easily portable. Adding in protein powder makes them heartier and avoiding fruit juices will help alleviate blood sugar spikes. The only downside? Waking neighbors with a loud blender…

Berry Smoothie

~

1 cup frozen strawberries

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder

almond milk

~

Place frozen fruit and protein powder in blender.

Fill with almond milk until fruit is almost covered.

Blend and enjoy!

Makes 1 large smoothie
